Gonzalo Garcia-Pedroso

Each month RG175 does a "deeper dive" to get to know one of our Independent School colleagues. This month we are spotlighting Gonzalo Garcia-Pedroso. Gonzalo is a school administrator with over 20 years of experience. He is currently serving as Director of Constituent Relations at South Kent School. He is known for his outstanding leadership skills, knowledge, and experience that provide staff with an excellent structured and service-oriented work environment. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience in enrollment management, development and fundraising, technology integration, and residential/community life. He is also an experienced facilitator and presenter at many educational conferences. Gonzalo graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1999. Later, he completed an online program in Artificial Intelligence from the MIT Sloan School of Management and the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) in 2018. In 2014, he attended the d.school Executive Boot Camp at Stanford University.

What’s your connection to RG175?

My connection to RG175 is thanks to John Farber. John has served as a mentor for years and introduced me to RG175 when he joined the team. It has served me as a resource for my professional development.

Can you summarize your experience working with RG175?

My experience working with RG175 has been nothing short of perfect. They helped identify opportunities that fit my desire for growth and my experience. I always felt they understood me as a person and professional. Aside from the obvious, that is job opportunities, I feel another benefit has been the shared content that the professionals at RG175 put out in the newsletters and their website.

If you had one thing to recommend to other candidates what would it be?

My one recommendation to other candidates is to listen to the members of the team and take the time to look for the "why" of the place you are looking to join. This is more than a job, it is a passion and way of life. It is important that you find the connection with the institution and remember that they are looking at you just as much as you at them.

What do you enjoy most about your job as it pertains to Independent Schools?

I enjoy the countless relationships made with my colleagues, students (while at the school and the years after) and their families. All of these connections allow us to grow as individuals and add to the collective community that we strive to build. The Independent School world is such a great community, not just at the school I am working at, but with all those that are within the network. It is what helps drive the passion within the educators and can be felt by all those that are associated.

What are some of your greatest achievements?

Some of the greatest achievements come from the accomplishments of the students we care for. Knowing that we helped them achieve their goals by providing a safe, caring and challenging educational environment.
