DeAndre Calhoun

Each month RG175 does a "deeper dive" to get to know one of our Independent School colleagues. This month, we feature DeAndre Calhoun. DeAndre is an educator and school leader with over 25 years of experience in independent schools, starting his career as a math teacher and finding joy in helping young people grow and thrive. A proud native of Berkeley, CA, he values the connections he builds with students, families, and colleagues, finding inspiration in moments big and small—from a thoughtful conversation with a first grader to cheering on his favorite San Francisco Giants at spring training. DeAndre’s approach to education is deeply personal, shaped by his love for learning, his belief in the potential of every student, and his dedication to creating vibrant, inclusive communities where everyone feels they belong. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, science fiction (Octavia Butler is a favorite), and volunteering for youth sports, primarily Oakland Little League.
